Sometimes your appliance may seem like it’s not working properly, but you may not be able to put your finger on what’s wrong. Is your dishwasher being too noisy? You may be able to identify the problem by what kind of noise your dishwasher makes. Is it from the rattle of a pump? Is your washer arm bearing worn? Or is your dishwasher leaking? This could be a worn pump or door seals, or your water inlet valve may be failing. What about if your dishwasher will not start? You should check door latch switches, timers, electronic controls, motor relays, and thermal fuses if this is your problem.
If your dishwasher is broken, it may be something as simple as the door won’t latch anymore. You may be able to repair your door latch with a kit. What about if your dishwasher isn’t cleaning dishes properly? This could come down to housing gaskets, spray arms, or water tubes and filters. Or, what if your dishwasher doesn’t drain the used water? This could be a timer or drain hose issue. How about the opposite – that your dishwasher will not fill with water at the start of its cycle? This might be a water inlet valve issue, or maybe a float switch or a door switch.
What about if your dishwasher will not dispense detergent? You might have to test the bi-metal release, wax motor, and/or the timer. If your dishes aren’t dried properly at the end of your dishwasher’s cycle, this could be an issue with your heating elements, thermostats, or rinse aid dispensers.
As you can see, there are numerous issues that may cause your dishwasher to not work properly. While you may be able to fix some of these issues on your own, we would always recommend hiring a professional to do the job for you.
